My journey into this work began over 20 years ago, not as a therapist, but as a client. Sitting in that room, I discovered the power of being truly heard and supported. Therapy helped me to understand myself more deeply and to find new ways of being in the world. I loved it so much that I felt a pull I couldn’t ignore: I needed to learn more.

That curiosity became a calling. I spent 4 years training as an integrative clinical psychotherapist with the Irish Institute of Counselling and Psychotherapy at Turning Point. In my early years as an adult therapist, I noticed something striking: many of the struggles adults brought into the room had their roots in childhood. This realisation drew me towards child therapy, where healing and change can begin earlier. I went on to complete further training as a child and adolescent therapist at the Children’s Therapy Centre.

Today, as an accredited psychotherapist, qualified play therapist, and PhD-trained pharmacologist, I draw on both scientific knowledge and relational practice. My background in pharmacology gives me a strong foundation in psychiatric medicine, neuroscience and stress biology, while my therapeutic training allows me to translate that science into playful, practical tools for children, teens, and families.

While I bring knowledge of child development and a range of therapeutic approaches, I believe parents are the experts in their own children. The parent–child relationship is, in my view, one of the most powerful healing forces we have. Because of this, I’ve undertaken additional training in approaches that involve parents directly in the playroom, including Theraplay and Filial Therapy.

Whatever therapy looks like for your child, we will work closely together in a gentle, creative, and evidence-based way. I believe therapy doesn’t have to be complicated, small steps, taken consistently, can make a big difference.
